Fields-Penn House

Abingdon is famous for the many 18th and 19th century buildings that line the streets of the beautiful historic district, and one of the most popular of these historic structures is the stately Fields-Penn House.

The Fields-Penn House was constructed in 1860 by Mr. James Fields and his wife Susan for use as their private residence. The Fields' lived there for some time, after which the estate came into the possession of George and Estelle Penn. Today, this immaculate 19th century home is a wonderful museum, complete with skilled interpreters who showcase the lifestyles of both sets of original owners. The Fields-Penn House is open to the public and tours are given from April through December of each year.
